Providing Acoustic Services for over 30 years
Allan Herring Acoustics was formed in 1982 as a result of the acquisition of the acoustical consulting practice Ron Carr & Company, which was solely operated in Perth since its inception in 1977 by Allan Herring. During this time, a wide scope of assignments had been completed throughout industry, transport, the environment, building acoustics and mechanical services.
L. J. Storer & Associates was established in 1984 by taking over the operations of Noise Reduction Engineering Pty Ltd. The business objectives were to provide an engineering and consulting service in the field of acoustics and environmental engineering. L. J. Storer & Associates specialised in industrial acoustics in such areas as design, control, impact studies and assessment in accordance with all relevant standards and regulations
With Lynton’s experience in mechanical services and industrial noise; and Allan’s in pubs and nightclub noise and architectural acoustics, the combination provided a good fit. Thus, with the demand for acoustic consulting services increasing, they decided to join forces and Herring Storer Acoustics was formed in 1988, from the amalgamation of Allan Herring Acoustics and LJ Storer & Associates.
From these humble beginnings, the consultancy has grown in line with the demand in acoustic consulting, not only in size, but also in the range of services provided. Architectural, environmental, occupational health and even transport sectors require specialist advise in regards to noise and vibration.
In 1993 Tim Reynolds joined the company and in 2007 became the Managing Director after both Allan and Lynton retired. Paul Drew also joined the company in 1995 and became a company director in 2006.
With the implementation of state and federal acoustic compliance such as the Western Australian Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations, the National Conctruction Code (NCC), formerly Building Code of Australia (BCA), State Planning Policies (SPP 5.4, 5.1 etc.) and Mining and Occupational Health legislation the demand for acoustical services increased. Herring Storer Acoustics team of five acoustic consultants have over 90 years of combined experience.
Herring Storer Acoustics is a member of the Association of Australian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC). The Directors are all members of the Australian Acoustical Society (AAS) and the Institution of Engineers (MIEAust).
